Gitau is a banking and finance solicitor based in the City of London with over 20 years of international experience advising borrowers and lenders through the lending process in City financial institutions. Until relatively recently, Gitau served for over fifteen years as an in-house solicitor with the London branch of Bayerische Landesbank, a renowned Bavarian bank operating across three continents and offering lending and advisory expertise in the areas of Project Finance, Acquisition finance, Corporate Lending, Securitisation and complex Restructurings. His experience covers a variety of financings, including project financing of renewable power (solar, gas, waste and water), infrastructure projects (motorways, airports and bridges) and invoice discounting securitisation arrangements.
Gitau continues to advise banks in an in-house capacity on lending and associated products. Most recently he has advised on the transition away from IBOR (Interbank Offered Rates) benchmarks towards alternative risk-free rates (RFRs), one of the most profound changes to financial markets of the last few decades.
Prior to working full time as an in-house solicitor, Gitau practised privately with leading international law firms in the City of London.
