Oliver has a decade of experience at the UK Regulator, a decade of experience in investment management at Smith & Williamson and Granville and latterly over fifteen years as a regulatory consultant. He has advised boards and senior management on regulatory matters and has been Director of OWL Regulatory Consulting since 2009. For four years, he was non-executive director and chairman of the audit, risk and compliance committee of a Lloyd's broker, he was joint managing director of Beachcroft Wansbroughs Consulting, Head of Investment Funds Policy at IMRO and a director of Granville Investment Management.
Oliver founded the FS Expert Group in 2020 after he had acted as expert witness in two major cases, including Singularis v Daiwa, which involved the banking Quincecare Duty and reached the Supreme Court in 2019. His experience in this role led him to the view that there was a growing need for expert witnesses in the financial services sector.
