Tim Cornick is a financial services and investment management lawyer who was in private practice from 1980 until 2018. For most of that time he was a partner in the investment management group at City law firm Macfarlanes. The group provided legal, regulatory and tax advice to a variety of participants in the investment management field.
Tim acted for investment funds, investment managers, custodians, trustees/depositaries, and service providers. This, plus financial services regulatory/compliance advice and related securities work formed the bulk of his practice, with a strong emphasis on open ended collective investment schemes in the UK and particularly UK authorised funds. His work extended to most non-contentious legal aspects of investment management.
Throughout his career Tim wrote frequently for a variety of financial services publications and was a regular conference speaker.
Since retiring from law practice in 2018, Tim has acted as an independent non-executive director of three management companies operating UK regulated funds, where, among other things, he is involved in annual Assessments of Value.
